Lianne grew up on a 1,000 acre vegetable farm near Grand Bend. After receiving an Honours Bachelor Degree in Criminology and Sociology from the University of Windsor in 2003, she worked in Ottawa as a political staffer for the Stephen Harper Government. Lianne is proud to have begun her career on Parliament Hill in Ottawa working as MP Bev Shipley’s Executive Assistant.
During Lianne’s six-year tenure in Ottawa, she also worked as a legislative assistant for Conservative MP David Anderson in his capacity as the Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources, and as Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Agriculture and for the Canadian Wheat Board. Later while working for the Honourable Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture, Lianne assisted in developing the Marketing Freedom for Grain Farmers Act, Bill C-19.
Lianne was selected to succeed the retiring Bev Shipley as the candidate for Lambton-Kent-Middlesex in March, after winning the nomination from a field of six very strong candidates.
Residents of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex want an MP who understands agriculture, the importance of small businesses and who will advocate for rural Ontario. Lianne Rood will do this for you!
